BEACH HOUSE

Designed on spec, M² directed production for W+A on this teardown and reconstruction of a 1920’s beach cottage in one of Connecticut’s most upscale towns.  Damaged beyond repair by Superstorm Sandy, the design utilized the original footprint of the cottage while updating the plan for the 21st century, with a grand, open living space, chef’s kitchen, and dramatic roof deck and penthouse.  The resulting 3000sf+ house, while generous in living space, still manages to feel human in a scale appropriate to the surrounding neighborhood and evocative of the original cottage.
