Completed in September 2018, RH’s flagship NYC gallery represents the culmination of years of work generated by M² under the umbrella of Wormser + Associates Architects. Starting with an unassuming 2-story warehouse building that housed the original Pastis restaurant and an abandoned parking garage, M² served as project architect for the entirety of the design and construction of the resulting 5-story, 90,000sf rehabilitation. Beginning with core conceptual design in collaboration with BKSK Architects for Aurora Capital and William Gottlieb Management, M² led the project teams both for core & shell and tenant fitout phases of the job, the latter phase in collaboration with Backen & Gillam Architects.  The finished Gallery upends traditional retail models, integrating a shopping experience that demands a holistic approach to interior design with a rooftop restaurant that defines the RH aesthetic. Exemplified by the first fire-rated glass elevator in North America drawing the eye vertically through the 5-story atrium, M² played an integral role in bringing the vision of a demanding client to fruition.
