CHELSEA TOWNHOUSE

M² served as project architect and lead production associate for this gut renovation and expansion of a former SRO townhouse in the highly sought-after Chelsea neighborhood in NYC. The resulting two-family home totals over 7000sf and features a newly dug-out cellar, a rear expansion, and a rooftop penthouse addition.  Highlights include a translucent lot-line glass wall running vertically up the primary stair, three functioning wood-burning fireplaces, and a garden-level apartment that can function as a separate rental or as an integral feature to this expansive, modern home. M² was involved from concept to completion and helped ferry the project through the Landmarks Preservation Commission’s review and NYC Department of Buildings approval as well as the management of the construction process throughout.
